Other Games

Most of my older games are lost in the mists of time. However, I was able to save some going back to the Atari ST and Amiga from the late eighties and early nineties.

Turbo Rascal SE

A complete open source development environment for creating games and demos on many retro computer systems.

Includes a powerful code editor with auto complete, extensive help, tutorial files & examples and editors for characters, screens, bitmaps and Exomizer.

I have contributed and greatly expanded the Vic 20 support with new commands and advanced features, see VBM, LBM and PBM below.

All HEWCO's modern games have been created with Turbo Rascal and the source code for Nibbler, PumpKid, Escape 2020 and Cheesy Trials can be found in the example code.

Turbo Rascal Syntax Error was created by Leuat aka Nicolaas Ervik Groeneboom. Come join us on Facebook.

Available free on Windows PC, Mac and Linux for Commodore Vic 20, Commodore 64, NES and Gameboy development and more.

VBM

Vic Bitmap Mode creates a 160x192 full screen bitmap with many drawing commands such as tiles and software sprites.

LBM

Local Bitmap Mode creates small bitmaps to display sprites over a regular character display. Advantages include better colour resolution and can be used with a double buffered screen.

PBM

PETSCII Bitmap Mode uses the Commodores default block characters to create a super lo-fi bitmap display with sprite and tile drawing support. Works on the PET/CBM, C64 and Vic20.
